Nintendo’s leaked next-gen handheld console, Switch 2—Is it really that different from the original Switch?

Recent news about Nintendo’s next-gen Switch handheld console has stirred excitement among players. Leaked 3D renders and real-life photos suggest it looks quite similar to the current Switch—am I mistaken?

The screen has increased to an 8-inch display, accompanied by unchanged magnetic Joy-Con controllers. It features USB-C ports on both the top and bottom, includes 12GB of RAM, supports HDMI 2.1, and offers 256GB of internal storage. The leaked images align with the design Nintendo has shared with its partners.

Nintendo had initially planned to unveil its next-gen console by March 31, 2025, but recent reports indicate a possible launch as early as October, priced at $400. We’ll have to wait and see how it develops. Meanwhile, it appears that a new handheld console from Nintendo is on the way. With rising competition from powerful PC handhelds, it’s worth wondering if Nintendo’s new system will primarily cater to playing Zelda and Mario—though, to be fair, those games are more than enough to keep us entertained!
